Stuart Brown founded Cambridge Helpdesk in 2006 (with the help of Ross Pow and Phil Hadridge at idenk ) in order to provide a new level of IT service to Small Businesses based in and around Cambridge. Stuart has nearly 20 years experience in IT as an MCSE , working with rapidly growing companies.Over the past two decades Stuart has worked with several startup companies, developing their IT functions as each grew. In his first role, the company grew from 30 staff to 1,300 staff in just under 4 years - through numerous mergers and aqcuistions. The IT systems were extremely stable and despite this rapid growth functioned with just 4 support staff. The experience gained during this time has helped in all future roles where he has been able to implement the same proven methods in order to keep costs down while ensuring maximum performance and reliability. Stuart's next two full time roles were at small businesses that grew from 9 staff to over 800 in 5 years and then 120 staff to more than 1,200 in 4 years. Stuart says "Small businesses shouldn't think that their IT systems aren't as important as the big corporates. Reliability, documentation, running costs, backing up data, security and anti-virus protection (the list goes on...) is just as important to a company with 1 employee as it is to a company with 10,000 - I've seen too many IT Managers /Business Owners cut corners by cobbling solutions together rather than simply sitting down and planning their IT. It's not a case of spending more, just a case of planning more." Stuart was born in Cambridge and before embarking on a career in IT was a professional footballer with Luton Town and for a short spell also played for QPR - before a fractured spine put a stop to his football career. He enjoys watching his two sons play Football and Rugby and avoids arguments with his partner Rachel, who is a black belt in Judo.
